The Bois Forte Band welcomes you to the Bois Forte Heritage Center & Cultural Museum, located on the shores of Lake Vermilion in the heart of Minnesota's North Woods. On the grounds of the Fortune Bay Casino, the museum is dedicated to telling the Bois Forte Ojibwe story, as its name, Atisokanigamig, or Legend House, implies.

The museum is a gateway to understanding the Tribe's way of life, from their traditional practices of fishing, hunting and gathering to their cultural expressions in art, music and storytelling.  Explore their 3,000 square feet of engaging exhibits and artifacts, including a birch bark dwelling, veteran’s wall and boarding school exhibit. 

In addition to the exhibits, browse the gift shop, which features unique, locally made items from Band members. Sales from the gift shop benefit the local artisans. 

Group tours are available at the Bois Forte Heritage Center and Cultural Museum. Tours take approximately an hour, not counting visits to outdoor areas with scenic vistas that capture the northern wildernessSurrounded by the lush forests and pristine lakes of Minnesota's North Woods, the Bois Forte Heritage Center & Cultural Museum is set against a backdrop of natural beauty. The area is known for its dense woodlands, clear waters and abundant wildlife. 

The Fortune Bay Resort Casino offers additional dining options, including the Gold Mine Grill and a breakfast buffet at the Sunset Steakhouse, where guests can savor various culinary delights. The resort also features a spa, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

Duluth International Airport (DLH) is the nearest major airport, located approximately 130 miles southeast. The closest Amtrak station is also in Duluth. The museum is located near several major attractions in the region.
