Established in 1959, the Kaua`i Museum is the only general history museum serving the Hawaiian islands of Kaua`i and Ni`ihau. As a significant heritage institution listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum’s ancient stone walls house priceless artifacts and exhibits showcasing the islands indigenous culture. From the permanent Ha`aheo O` Hawai`i exhibit received from the Smithsonian Institution to the most recent Ni`ihau Shell Exhibit celebrating the musuem’s Ni`ihau Day, the Kaua`i Museum remains dedicated to providing historically accurate and culturally rich programming celebrating the lives and legacy of Kaua`i and Ni`ihau’s indigenous people.
