Captain Jimmer McDonald has been working and commanding vessels since he was 16. His Father "Mac" was a king crab fisherman in the 'heyday" of fishing.  Jimmer worked as a crew member then.  He became a licensed Captain in 2005 and today has completed over 3,000 charter days with a perfect safety record, with zero incidents for neither crew nor passengers. In the Bering Sea, the real culprit is weather and while no-one has control over that aspect, a wise Captain with decades of experience, knows his limits.
