Post Pilgrim Art Gallery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the creative vision of Jennifer White, mother of six, wife and owner, as well as its primary contributing artist. A proud member of the Arikara Nation, Jennifer began her journey as one of only a handful of Native professional artists. Over the years, she has built a strong collector base and become a driving force in bringing greater visibility and momentum to the Native art scene.
Her grandmother was a quilter, and her uncle taught the importance of dance, music and having a strong character. As an adult, she began to paint subject matter, gravitating toward her grandmother: the colors of her quilts, the golds and the beautiful abstract quality of her shapes. Jennifer believes it is crucial, "to speak as loud as we can as Native people of this country. Our culture is more than what we have been told; our culture is more than what we expect from ourselves. We are going to continue to evolve and conquer our fears; I chose to do it through my art. I am proud to be a Native Painter."
Wanderlog Review calls Post Pilgrim Gallery “a hub of creativity,” praising Jennifer’s bold, modern works, such as her striking Chieftess painting. and states, "The gallery is known for showcasing astounding modern art that captivates visitors with its energy and creativity."
