Tamaya Cultural Learning Center Information

The Tamaya Cultural Learning Center in the Plaza of the Generations contains a complete retrospective of this Pueblo community's tribal history. You'll be enlightened by their journey to find this land and the developments they achieved in their culture, social values, religion, agriculture and form of self-government over the centuries. Your visit will be hosted by a member of the Tribe, who can assist you with questions you may have regarding their way of life.

Daily Tours: 10:00 am & 2:00 pm

Adobe Brick Making - Work hands-on creating a traditional mini adobe brick (mud bricks) just like the people of Santa Ana Pueblo have done for hundreds of years. Young guests can remember the experience by taking home the brick they created.

Artisan Demonstration - Native American artisans demonstrate how they make their authentic arts & crafts. Artisans will be available to talk with guests about the materials and the steps involved in creating finished pieces.  Finished pieces will be available for sale only during the demonstrations.

Tamaya Traditions Bread Baking (Seasonal) - Work with the baker and learn to make Pueblo oven bread in a traditional outdoor Huruna (oven).

Stories Under the Stars - Listen to a Native American storyteller as they tell various creation stories that continue to be handed down from previous generations.

The Stables at Tamaya - The Stables at Tamaya are a true reflection of the Tamayame's respect for their land and animals. At the Stables, you will find some of the most beautifully groomed, mild-mannered, pampered horses and ponies in the Southwest.

Pony Rides – Saturday & Sunday (Seasonal) - Hop on Bullet the pony for a lead-around ride! The Stables at Tamaya offer complimentary pony rides to children three through eight years of age in the pony corral next to Camp Tamaya.
