      Fargo’s Hector International Airport (FAR), located about 80 miles to the west in North Dakota, serves as the most convenient airport for travelers visiting the White Earth Nation. From there, you can rent a car for the picturesque drive to the Reservation. Alternatively, the Detroit Lakes Amtrak Station, approximately 30 miles to the south, is an option for those arriving by train.

      The White Earth Nation Powwow

      The White Earth Nation Powwow is a vibrant celebration that encapsulates the rich cultural heritage of the Chippewa people. This annual gathering is a testament to the resilience, spirit, and unity of the White Earth Nation, drawing visitors from near and far to partake in a spectacle of dance, music, and community.

      The powwow takes place on the sprawling grounds of the White Earth Reservation, surrounded by lush forests and pristine lakes. The vibrant colors of traditional regalia pop against the backdrop of nature's beauty, creating a visually stunning experience for attendees.

      2024 will see the 156th year for this celebration that is rooted in ancient traditions. The White Earth Nation Powwow has evolved into a multi-day event that showcases the diverse cultural expressions of the Ojibwe community. The event draws between 2,500 and 3,000 people and there is no admission fee to enter, and parking is free as well.  From the rhythmic beat of drums to the intricate footwork of dancers, each element of the powwow is a living testament to the enduring legacy of the White Earth Nation of Minnesota Chippewa.
