Poarch Creek Indians Annual Thanksgiving Pow Wow

Poarch Creek Indians Annual Thanksgiving Pow Wow Information

Each year, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians welcomes visitors to Atmore, Alabama, for a two-day homecoming celebration honoring the Tribe’s rich cultural heritage and community spirit. The Annual Thanksgiving Pow Wow brings together families, friends and neighbors to share in traditional songs, dances and stories that celebrate Creek culture and kinship.

Visitors can browse a vibrant selection of arts and crafts created by Native artisans, as well as goods from local vendors. The festival also features plenty of delicious food — from classic favorites like barbecue, oak-wood fire-roasted corn, buffalo burgers, ham and fried chicken, to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey and dressing.

The Poarch Creek Indian Reservation is located just north of Atmore, Alabama, surrounded by the gentle rolling hills and pine forests of Escambia County. This area is part of Alabama’s Gulf Coastal Plain, renowned for its scenic woodlands, wetlands, and rivers, which have long supported the Creek people's life and traditions.

Stay at the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Atmore while visiting and learn more about the Tribes' history, culture and art at the Poarch Creek Indians Museum.
