Located along historic Route 66 in Albuquerque, Bien Mur Indian Market offers travelers an inviting stop to experience Native arts and culture in the heart of New Mexico. Bien Mur Indian Market in Albuquerque is one of the Southwest’s largest Native-owned and operated arts and crafts centers, offering visitors a vibrant introduction to Indigenous creativity and cultural expression.
Owned and operated by the Pueblo of Sandia, the market brings together authentic works from Native artisans in New Mexico and beyond, including Hopi, Navajo, Zuni and many of the 19 Pueblo nations whose cultural traditions continue to flourish in the region.
Bien Mur’s kiva-shaped showroom displays jewelry, pottery, woven rugs, sand paintings, fetishes and folk art, all made by Indigenous creators whose techniques have been passed down through generations. The market also supports a 107-acre bison preserve, reflecting cultural values of respect for the land and for animals that hold sacred meaning for many Native Nations.
Visiting Bien Mur Indian Market offers travelers a chance to connect directly with Native arts and craft traditions, learn about the cultural significance of materials and motifs, and take home a piece of artistry grounded in place and community. Its location at the base of the Sandia Mountains, sacred to the Sandia Pueblo, adds to the sense of connection between culture and landscape that defines the experience.
